Birchwood Guest House is an award winning family run Bed and Breakfast in Portsmouth located centrally to all the major attractions. The Guest House is owned and operated by Heather and Ken Cottrell and is run in a very friendly and informal style.

Built in 1904, this Edwardian B&B has lovely bright rooms that are regularly re-decorated and updated, why not take a look at our virtual tour and see what our Bed & Breakfast has to offer, choose the room before you book. We are also proud of our English Breakfast, the last hotel inspector said

"excellent quality, taste and presentation"

not a bad comment from someone who samples so many breakfasts.

Our bed and breakfast also has the benefit of being close to the sea front and award winning gardens, as well as a range of cafés, bars, restaurants and shops - all of which are within easy walking distance.

Portsmouth is becoming increasingly popular with tourists from both home and abroad and is now renowned as a "world class" waterfront. With its famous and historic naval port and literary past, the city has a rich cultural heritage that lies in contrast to its more cosmopolitan side, which includes a variety of shopping and entertainment options as well as the iconic Spinnaker Tower, which rises 170 metres over Portsmouth Harbour and is taller than both the London Eye and Big Ben. Portsmouth has the charming seaside resort of Southsea with miles of picturesque beaches and our Guesthouse makes a wonderful base to explore attractions such as the Blue Reef Aquarium, Royal Marines Museum, Southsea Castle and South Parade Pier and Clarence Pier, which has the largest amusement park on the south coast.
